Youtube essayist CGPGrey published this video in August of this year, and it immediately became a viral success. It's well-worth watching in full (15 minutes long) as a pretty stunning survey of the current state of automation in the economy, as well as a thoughtful reflection on the inevitable future of automating technologies on work. The author of the video reaches the same conclusion that Jeremy Rifkin arrived at in his talk at Town Hall: that we are rapidly approaching, or have already arrived at, a situation in which the economy cannot in principle provide work for everyone who wants it.
